St. George's Church

Location

Description

This Neo-Gothic style church, located in Abids, was established in 1861 by Lady Yule, wife of the British Resident George Yule. The church was financed through various sources, including the Nizam and Residency staff.

To enter the nave of the church, visitors must pass through large teak wood doors with rounded arches located on the west side. Additionally, there are two small side entrance doors to the right and left of the main entrance, leading to the north and south transept. The altar is surrounded by three stained glass windows, with the middle one depicting the ascension of Christ. The porch in front of the entrance, a common feature of contemporary Gothic churches, is used for processions during festivals and special occasions such as Palm Sunday.
