Dabeerpura Darwaza

Location

The Dabeerpura Darwaza is located at Dabeerpura Crossroads.

Description

One of the 12 gates to the walls of the city, this gate was built between the years 1724–1740 by Nizam al-Mulk Asaf Jah. This solid, crenellated gate is one of only two surviving gates of this type in the city of Hyderabad. This gate is built in exposed granite masonry which is now covered in layers of paint. There are staircases on both turrets of the wall that provide access to the watchtowers atop the gate. Remains of the wall can be seen on either side of the road, which was pulled down in October 1954.

Existing Condition

The gate stands in a state of disrepair and is painted yellow and white.
