Description
During the Nizam period, a network of Police Naka Outposts or ‘Chowkis’ were developed across Hyderabad city and its outskirts (Atraf-i-Balda areas). These outposts were designed with a uniform footprint and design language that was followed throughout the city. One such outpost is at the Puranapul crossroads, serving as an outpost as one of the main entrances of the city.
The outpost building is built with stone and brick masonry with jack arch roofs plastered with lime mortar. The building contains a front corridor enclosed by three arches and two rooms towards the rear. The compound also contains an open space with a toilet block enclosed by a boundary wall, behind the structure.
Existing Condition
Trees and vegetation can be seen on the surface of the building and a modern metal awning has been added on the front facade.
