Description
The Mozamjahi or Moazzam Jahi Market was originally a fruit and ammunition market named after Prince Moazzam Jah, the son of Nizam Osman Ali Khan.
The clock tower is built in exposed granite in the Osmanian/Indo- Saracenic style. Its construction was finished in 1935 and the clock tower is the tallest structure of the market. It is two-storeyed and octagonal in shape, with clocks on alternating faces of the octagon. The dome sits on an ornate platform on a chajja supported by stone brackets.
Existing Condition
The structure was neglected over the decades and fell into disrepair. The clock tower and the market underwent restoration in 2018 which restored the monument and the clocks to working condition.
