Moosa Quadri Dargah

Location

Located on the Hussaini Alam road towards the Puranapul crossroad in the Moosabowli Area, the dargah area is accessed through a large green doorway.

Description

Built in the year 1801, during the reign of Sikander Jah, the Dargah of Hazrat Shah Moosa Quadri contains a two storied tomb located in a large compound accessible by the Naqarkhana (drum house) of the Dargah. The architecture of the dargah can be considered as the late Mughlai style, with the departure of the dome’s shape from bulbous to flatter profiles. There are several calligraphic inscriptions that talk about the history of the dargah and the saint. The dargah is said to be the refuge for thousands of local residents when there was a flood in the river Musi.

The dargah complex receives many visitors and the chandeliers within the structures are usually illuminated in the evenings.

Existing Condition

The main gateway is ornamented with lime plaster and stucco work. The tombs are made of marble and plaster. Some of the painted mausoleums have paint flaking and some jali elements missing.
