Location
Masjid Raheem Khan is located in Karwan, Hyderabad, close to Toli Masjid and Kulsumpura Masjid. It is a part of the Golconda-Puranapul Highway infrastructure from the Qutb Shahi period.
Description
Built in 1643, this Qutb Shahi mosque close to the Toli Masjid was also known as the Nirkhi Masjid, as among the regular worshippers included the Nirkhis, the price inspectors. Situated on a small terrace, the mosque is built in the Late Qutb Shahi style, with three arched openings lead into a prayer hall (27 by 18 feet), flanked by two minarets.
In the mihrab, the Throne Verse in the Qur’an (Ayat al-Kursi) is inscribed in Thulth style.
A profusion of polished black basalt in the arches, minaret, entrance gate, and mihrab distinguishes this mosque. Opposite the paved courtyard there is a well, and on a raised platform are nine unmarked graves.
Existing Condition
Minor damage has been observed within the facade and interior portions of the mosque.
