Located at Shah Gunj on the Amir e Kabir Road leading from Mahbub Chowk to Shah Gunj.
Description
Built in the early 19th century, this palace is located in Shah Ganj, between the city palaces of Asman Jah and Iqbaluddawlah (called Khanah Bagh and Deori Iqbaluddawla respectively), this is the palace named after Khurshid Jah (1841–1902), though it was built during the time of his grandfather Shams al-Umara II, (1781–1893). Built over a high plinth, the two-story palace has very spacious rooms and verandas. The European-style façade is marked by Ionic columns and a barrel-vault roof. The palace housed a women’s college until the year 2008.
Existing Condition
The building and its surrounds now lie in a ruinous state. The gardens are now used as a playground by locals.
