Description

The Sri Vidya Saraswati Temple, it owes its existence to the efforts of Sri Yamavaram Chandrashekhara Sharma, who laid the temple’s foundation stone in 1989 and in 1992 Sri Vidya Nrusinha Bharati Swamy initiated the installation of the idols of Goddess Sri Vidya Saraswathi Devi and Lord Shani. Presently, the temple is under the auspices of the Kanchi Mutt.

The core deity of the Wargal Temple is Goddess Saraswati Devi, her sanctum situated at a level akin to the third floor. An awe-inspiring 10-foot idol of Goddess Saraswati stands prominently in front of the temple.

The temple complex also houses other sanctuaries, including Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi, Lord Shanishwara, and Lord Shiva. Two Vaishnava Temples, though currently in a state of disrepair, hold historical significance, attributed to the Kakatiya rulers’ era. Nearby, a towering victory pillar, adorned with statues of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, Lord Lakshmana, and Goddesses Lakshmi, soars to a height of approximately 30 feet. Furthermore, the temple premises host a Veda Paathashaala, where numerous students diligently study the Vedas.

Families frequently visit the temple to conduct the Aksharabyasa ceremony for their children before they embark on their educational journey.

The temple comes to life during grand celebrations of Vasantha Panchami, Navaratri Mahaotsavams, and Shani Tryodasi festivals. Notably, Moola Nakshatram, marking the birth star of Goddess Saraswati, is a highly auspicious day for her worship, accompanied by special rituals at the temple.

Existing Condition

The temple is well maintained and run by Kanchi mutt.
