Madana Gopala Swamy Temple

Location

The temple is located at Jatprole which is on the banks of the Sri Sailam Dam Reservoir. It is 63km from Nagarkurnool,the district headquarters.

Description

Madana Gopal Swamy temple dedicated to Lord Krishna was built in 12th Century by Malla Naidu son of Recherla Bethi Reddy. In 16th century this samsthan was handed over to Surbhi Rajas by Vijayanagara King. This temple is re located from the village of Malleswaram to present place in 1989 during the construction of Srisailam Dam.

 

 

The temple possesses a huge temple tower with large wooden gates followed by spacious Sabhamandapa, antarala and the sanctum. The pillars in the Sabhamandapa are carved in Vijayanagara style. The carvings on the pillars and front wall of the sanctum are wonderfully done. The temple has entrances on four sides and there are several sub-shrines within the temple complex.
