Description

Kuntala Waterfall is a prominent natural attraction in the Indian state of Telangana. It is located along the Kadam River in the Neradigonda mandal of Adilabad district. What makes Kuntala Waterfall noteworthy is its impressive height, standing at 150 meters, which makes it the tallest waterfall in the entire state.

The name “Kuntala” carries an interesting story behind it. These waterfalls are situated within dense forests that are inhabited by the Gonds, an indigenous community. In the Gondi and Telugu languages, “Kunta” translates to “pond,” and “Kuntalu” signifies several ponds. The name “Kuntala” originates from the fact that the waterfall is formed by the confluence of multiple ponds that ultimately feed into the Kadem River.

Kuntala Falls is created by the Kadam River, and it descends in two distinct steps. After heavy rains, the waterfall can be observed as two separate adjacent falls. There is a motorable road that takes you to the entry point of the falls, and from there, a series of steps are available for visitors to descend to the base of the falls.

Existing Condition

The  best time to visit the falls is during October-February , as the water is dried up during the summers.
