Description

Kondagattu Abhaya Anjaneya Temple, according to legend, was constructed 300 years ago by a cowherd who, guided by divine intervention while searching for his cattle, stumbled upon the statue of Lord Hanuman. The present structure of the temple, credited to Krishna Rao Deshmukh, was built approximately 160 years ago. The temple is distinguished by its grand gopuram and has a rectangular layout with a courtyard now covered by a metallic roof and grills to manage the flow of devotees. Devotees believe that praying at the temple for 40 consecutive days can lead to the healing of mental disabilities and other health ailments.

Set in a picturesque landscape, the temple is surrounded by caves and features the Rayuni fort to the north. A rugged path leads downhill to Muneeshwara Guha, where a shivalinga and small statues of Muneeshwara and Yellama can be found.

Existing Condition

The Temple is a popular pilgrimage site it is maintained by the Temple’s Trust.
