Kaleshwara Mukteswara Temple

Location

The Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple, located in Kaleshwaram on the Telangana-Maharashtra border. It is 15km from the district headquarter Mulugu and about 66km  from Warangal .

Description

The temple is renowned for its dual Lingams, which are two representations of Lord Shiva, Mukteshwara and Kaleshwar, positioned on a single pedestal or Panavattam. This architectural feature is a distinct aspect of the temple.

 

According to beliefs, the Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple is one of the three temples in the Trilinga Desham, a region considered sacred to Lord Shiva. The other two temples are Draksharamam and Srisailam. These three temples are regarded as Jyotirlingas, symbolizing the cosmic power of Lord Shiva, and they are considered significant pilgrimage sites in Telugu Land.

 

 

Additionally, the temple showcases an interesting sculpture of a fish idol and the intricate artwork and architectural details in the temple contribute to its cultural and religious significance.

Existing Condition

The temple is a popular pilgrimage site and is well maintained.
