Syed Nayeemuddin is a former Indian football coach and player who was born in 1944. He had a successful career both as a player and a coach in Indian football. Nayeemuddin is known for his defensive skills and was part of the strong trio along with Jarnail Singh and Arun Ghosh in the 1960s.

Nayeemuddin began his club career in 1962 with Hyderabad City Police, a well-known Indian side. His performances caught the attention of Balai Dey while playing for Kolkata clubs. In 1968, he joined Mohun Bagan, one of the most prestigious football clubs in India, and went on to win the 1969 IFA Shield with them.

On the international stage, Nayeemuddin represented India and achieved notable accomplishments. He was part of the Indian national team that finished as runners-up at the 1964 AFC Asian Cup. He also captained the Indian team to a bronze medal at the 1970 Asian Games. Additionally, he participated in tournaments like the Pesta Sukan Cup and Merdeka Cup.

After his playing career, Nayeemuddin transitioned to coaching. He had a successful coaching career in Indian football and received recognition for his contributions. In 1990, he was honored with the Dronacharya Award, a prestigious sports award in India given for excellence in coaching.

 

Syed Nayeemuddin’s dedication and skills as a player and coach have made a significant impact on Indian football, and he remains a respected figure in the sport.
