In 1869, Nawab Afzal-ud-Daula’s death led to Sir Asman Jah’s appointment as the Minister of Justice. During Sir Salar Jung I’s visit to England in 1857, Sir Asman Jah acted as Co-Regent. Following Sir Salar Jung’s death in 1883, a Council of Regency was established, and Sir Asman Jah was appointed a member of both the Council of Regency and the Council of State.
Sir Asman Jah was a skilled administrator who established an irrigation board and initiated several new projects to improve the revenue of the state. In 1887, he traveled to England to represent the Nizam on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Victoria. Upon his return, Sir Asman Jah assumed the role of Prime Minister of Hyderabad in 1888, which he held until 1894.
