In 2013, the National Institute of Urban Management (NIUM) was established in Hyderabad, Telangana, as a result of a national competition under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). NIUM aims to be an apex think-tank and action research institute in the urban sector, with the overriding objectives of extending technical assistance and capacity building support to Government Departments and other stakeholders at the National, State and Urban Local Body levels.

The Uniquely Telangana website has been set up to provide a platform for authentic information about the tangible and intangible heritage of Telangana, in collaboration with educational institutes, researchers, historians and others.
